What Jobseekers Want From Employers

2022 is a very interesting year for the world of recruitment. Job seekers are back in the driving seat, and they have more choice than ever before. This means that if you want a high-quality candidate to join your business you need to make sure you are able to offer what they want.

Below we share just some of the things that research tells us jobseekers want form employers. How many of these can you offer to attract new talent to your business?

  • Flexibility

work from homeThe pandemic changed everything for all of us. The UK workforce changed in lots of ways. One of these ways remote working. It was something new for a lot of employees, but a lot of them have got to used to the new way of working and want to keep it. Even if you’re not able to offer a role that is full-time remote working, if you can offer flexible working, this will still be attractive to jobseekers. It makes the role more accessible and will open your business to more candidates too. A good work-life balance is so important to jobseekers and flexible working can support this.

  • Diversity

However, companies that do not have a diverse workforce are often seen as being outdated, and stuck in their ways, closed and exclusive. How would you rather your business was seen?

  • Growthgrowth

While jobseekers are looking to join a company that is growing, they want to grow within the company too. Everyone has personal career goals. This may not always be going up the career ladder, but it might be learning new skills or developing their knowledge in areas, for example. Many jobseekers want to know the career advancement potential before they join a company so make sure this is clear in the job adverts and interviews too.

  • Salary

salaryYou knew it was coming. While it isn’t the most important factor for every candidate, with the cost-of-living crisis, salary is more important to a lot of jobseekers. Nobody likes to feel like they are being underpaid. Have a look around at the competition or speak to our team of experienced recruiters. We can help you set the right salary to attract the right talent for your business. This will be a salary that is competitive in the industry, but also something reasonable for you as an employer.

  • Appreciationappreciation

Everyone likes to feel recognised and appreciated for doing a good job. Use your interview to confirm how you reward and recognise your team. This could be through bonuses, pats on the back, appraisals and more. Think about how you recognise your team and make sure potential candidates are aware of this. This could be the extra ‘thing’ they need to choose you over another job offer.
